Tsum Valley Trekking is an opportunity to explore the sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in Gorkha district of Nepal. During Tsum Valley Trekking, you will discover the secret Tibetan Buddhist. As Tsum valley was restricted until 2007, it is known to be one of the least visited trekking destinations of Nepal. Tsum valley is less exposed area in comparison to other travel destinations in Nepal. Talking about the culture, well, people in Tsum valley have the origin from Tibet and their culture and religion resemble with the Tibetan culture. It will be interesting to know that Polyandry is predominant in Tsum Valley.

We start Tsum Valley Trekking with ride to Arughat. It takes about seven hours to reach Arughat from Kathmandu. Ascending through Budhi Gandaki Valley, we pass through the mix of dense forests and terraced fields. Passing further through the glacial rivers and other ethnic settlements, we explore Tsum Valley. Other important places we visit during Tsum valley trek are Jagat, Liding, Philim and Machhakhola. Tsum Valley Trek also lets you explore the ancient Buddhist monasteries like Mu Goma, Rachen Gompa and Dephyudonma Gompa among others. Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat (640m) – 8 Hours

Today, we will head to Arughat from Kathmandu. Arughat is the starting point of our trek. We drive through Dhading Besi to eventually reach Arughat. It takes around eight hours for our bus to get there. We stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 04: Trek from Arughat to Soti Khola (775m) – 6 Hours

From Arughat, we continue our trek following the Budhi Gandaki River towards its origin. Passing through the village of Morder and Simre, we reach Arkhat River. We ascend slowly towards Kyoropani and set up our camp near the confluence of Seti River. Well, Seti River is an ideal place to take a fresh water bath. We stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 05: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (900m) – 6 Hours

Today, we descent slowly until you climb again to mountain ridge to Almara. We then pass the forest to reach Riden Gaon. On reaching Lambeshi, we follow down to the sandy river bed of Budhi Gandaki. We stay overnight at our tented accommodation at Machha Khola.

Day 06: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (1340m) – 6 Hours

From Machha Khola, we head to Khrola Besi. We then move to Tatopani where we can enjoy natural hot spring. Following the trail through the forest, we eventually reach Dovan and then to Jagat. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 07: Trek from Jagat to Chisopani (1660m) – 4 Hours

We climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri. From Salleri, we descend to Sirdibas and then continue to Ghatta Khola. Continuing upstream to a long simple suspension bridge, we climb up to the large Gurung settlement of Philim. We trek further from Philim to reach Chisopani. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Chisopani to Chumling (2386m) – 6 Hours

After having breakfast in the morning, we walk towards Ekle Bhatti and then enter into the pine forest. We then descend towards the trail to Tsum Valley and then again enter into the dense forest of pine and rhododendrons. Overlooking the magnificent Himalayan ranges, we reach Chumling. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 09: Trek from Chumling to Chhokangparo (3010m) – 5 Hours

Today, we hike uphill and descend to cross the bridge over small stream. Pasing through Rainjham, we eventually reach the vally of Tsum. Chhokangparo is known to be the largest village of Tsum valley. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 10: Trek from Chhokangparo to Nile (3361m) – 7 Hours

From Chhokanparo, we ascend to Lama Gaun crossing the monasteries and Gompa. We climb the Milarepa’s Cave where you will visit Buddhist meditation centers. Trekking further through Phurbe and Pang, we eventually reach the village of Nile where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 11: Trek from Nile to Mu Gompa (3700m) – 3 Hours

We ascend to Mu Gompa passing through the largest monastery of Tsum Valley. Actually, Mu Gompa is located at the highest point of Tsum Valley. We can hike around this village exploring Kalung and visit Dhephyudonma Gompa. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

 

Day 12: Exploration at Mu Gompa

Today, we explore the whole Mu Gompa region. Mu Gompa is the largest monastery in the region and is located at the highest and most remote point of Tsum Valley. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 13: Trek from Mu Gompa to Burgi Village (3245m) via Milarepa Cave – 5 Hours

From Mu Gompa, we today trek back to Chhule and Phurbe on the east bank of the Shiar Khola. Eventually, we arrive at the beautiful village of Burgi. We then climb up to the Milarepa Cave, well known for its mesmerizing glimpses of Poshyop Glacier and Mount Churke. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 14: Trek from Burgi Village to Chumling (2386m) – 5 Hours

We continue trekking through the greenery of nature and then descend down to Chhokang Paro again. Descending continuously to Gho, we further descend to reach Chumling where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 15: Trek from Chumling to Philim (1570m) – 6 Hours

From Chumling, we continue to Lokpa and then move ahead on a flat trail ahead overlooking the gorgeous Samba Falls. We eventually reach Philim after about six hours. We stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 16: Trek from Philim to Khorlabesi (970m) – 7 Hours

From Philim, we move towards Jagat and Tatopani to reach Khorlabeshi. We descend down to Sirdibas again and arrive at Jagat. From Jagat, we continue trekking through Tatopani and eventually we arrive at Kholabeshi where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 17: Trek from Khorlabesi to Soti Khola (775m) – 6 Hours

Today, we cross the Tharo Khola flowing in a rocky ravine. After that we head down again to the river and traverse to Machha Khola village. We reach the Gurung village of Labubeshi trekking alongn the Budhi Gandaki River and finally reach Soti Khola where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 18: Trek from Soti Khola to Arughat (640m) – 7 Hours

From Soti Khola, we climb up the ridge of Kyorpani and then descend down to the cascading waterfall. Passing through the Sante Bazaar, we eventually reach Arughat where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 19: Drive back to Kathmandu from Arughat – 8 Hours

After completing the rewarding Tsum valley trekking, we drive back to Kathmandu from Arughat. In the evening, you can join the farewell dinner with our trekking team. We stay overnight at a hotel at Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final Departure

Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
