Everest Base Camp Cho la Pass Trekking

Everest Base Camp Cho la Pass Trekking   is one of the reputed trekking routes in Everest region. Gokyo Everest base camp trekking combines with beautiful sceneries of Gokyo valley, Gokyo Ri, Gokyo Cho la pass and Everest base camp along with the view of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam (6856m), Mt. Pumori (7145m), Mt. Thamserku (6723m), Mt.Kangtega (6685m) and other numerous number of mountains.

Everest Base Camp Cho la Pass Trekking starts from Lukla after the 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu. From Lukla, the way goes to Namche bazaar and the trail will leads us Gokyo passing the forest of rhododendron and birch after walking the main trail will leads us to Dzongla viewing the summit of Ama Dablam and Tawache. After that, we will ascent towards the Gorak shep and to Kalapatthar along with the magnificent view of Mount Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and many more. Generally, we consider the spring and autumn season as the best season to trek to this place as winter will be very cold.  We may visit the local villages of Sherpa community where we may have a close view over to their lifestyle and tradition. The Sherpa people can be helpful for us as they can give us information about the local climate and preventive measures also as the tricky way of the area. The highest altitude of the journey is 5,545m. The trekking is moderate and strenuous in many places.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2804m) and trek to Phakding (2610m) – 3 Hours

We get transferred to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Domestic Airport this morning to catch our scheduled morning flight to Lukla. After 30 minute long adventurous flight above the breathtaking scenario of Himalayas, we land on the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. Lukla is going to be the starting point of our trek. We meet our porters and other crew members and start trekking towards Phadking, which takes around three hours. We stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441m) – 5 Hours

We walk through the beautiful forest of pine today. And our walk leads us along the Dudhkoshi River bank through many suspension bridges. We will be crossing Hillary Suspension bridge which is one of the famous suspension bridges in that region. We will have enough opportunity to witness the wonderful views of Mount Thamserku (6618m) during the walk. Passing through the settlements of Benkar and Monjo, we eventually arrive at the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. We still have a last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche. Following the trail ascending through the forests and bridges and overlooking the beautiful views of Mount Everest,Lhotse and Nuptse, we continue our journey towards Namche. Namche is the gateway to Mount Everest and is also the main trading center of the region. We check into the guesthouse and stay there overnight.

Day 05: Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar

Today is going to be a rest day at Namche. But, as our Health Experts suggest, we need to stay active and moving during the rest days instead of being idle. Hence, we either take a day hike to Thame or visit Khunde for purpose of proper acclimatization. We can even stay at Namche and explore the Bazaar itself. You can visit the Tourist Visitor Center near the Headquarter of Sagarmatha National Park where you can observe an assortment of things which are related to the First Everest Climbers and Sherpa Culture. We stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 06: Tengboche to Dingbouche

From Tengboche, we first descend down to Debuche and after crossing the suspension bridge of Imja khola we can climb up to Pangboche. After tae point, we will move towards the height of Tengboche. We will spend the night at Dingbouche at the nearest lodges at the elevation of 4350m.

Day 07: Dingbouche to Lobuche

From Dingbouche, we should walk through the trail following the Khumbu glacier and the nearby summits. The trekking route goes for about 5 hours long to the height of 4910m. We can see the magnificent view of mountains and other magnificent view while trekking at this region.

Day 08: Trek to Everest base camp and back to Gorak Shep

From Lobuche, we have to start the day early in the morning as we have to trek a long way. We have to climb up to the Everest base camp for the altitude of 5365m where the way goes along with glaciers. We can return back to Gorak shep for the night. The Gorak shep is at the height of 5180m above sea level.

Day 09: Hike up to Kalapatthar and trek back to Dzongla

From Gorak shep, we have to hike up to the Kalapatthar from Gorak shep. After walking for several hours we can reach at the altitude of 5545m. We can get the splendid view of mountains around the head of us. From Kalapatthar, we will descent to the Gorak shep quickly and then to Dzongla. The whole phenomenon takes about 8 hours to the height of 4620m.

Day 10: Dzongla to Thangna

From Dzongla, we have to walk for several flat lands for a while. After a while, we can reach at Chola pass and a steep down way will leads us towards Phedi and then Thangna. We have small villages and tea shops here. We also can view some glances of mountains from here.

Day 11: Thangna to Gokyo

From Thangna, we will walk along the glacier. After walking for a while, we can see the first lake of Gokyo.  After that we can see many lakes at Gokyo. The Gokyo is situated at the height of 4750m from where we can see the magnificent view of soaring mountains and beautiful lakes all around us. We can have a stunning view of Dudh Pokhari Lake from Gokyo. We will stay the night at Gokyo.

Day 12: Rest day at Gokyo

We will spend a day at Gokyo to have a proper rest and to explore the surrounding area. Gokyo is the trade center where Sherpa people used to run lodges. Gokyo is situated at Nguzumpa glacier, which is the largest glacier of Nepal.

Day 13: Gokyo Ri to Macherma

After having a day rest at Gokyo, we will trek towards the highlands of Gokyo Ri. We have to climb to the height of 5483m and from the top, we can have a splendid view of Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. And then we descend back to Gokyo and then trek towards Macherma. The trail goes for several hours following the Dudh Koshi River and yak pastures at the altitude of 4410m.

Day 14: Macherma to Namche bazaar

From Macherma, we trek down following the main trail to reach at Phortse Tenga. The path goes through the forest of rhododendron, pine and other several vegetations. After crossing the forest, we will move towards Khumjung and then descend to Namche to the height of 3440m. we will spend the night at Namche bazaar in a local lodges.

Day 15: Trek from Namche to Lukla (2804m) – 6 Hours

From Namche, we return back to Lukla. With this, we mark end of our trekking. We stay overnight at guesthouse.

Day 16: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

We get the scheduled morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. The flight is going to be very scenic and adventurous. On arriving Kathmandu, you can take your time to go for your last minute shopping or you can choose to explore the city even more. We stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 17: Final Departure

Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
