Dhaulagiri Round Trekking

is one of the challenging treks in Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), the seventh highest mountain in the world. Situated at the north west of Pokhara, Dhaulagiriregion is known as the popular travel destination for the adventurers. During Dhaulagiri Round Trek, we cross two high passes namely French Pass and Lama Pass. Besides, we also experience snow and glacier walking around Italian Base Camp and Dhaulagiri North Base Camp. Dhaulagiri Trek also offers spectacular beauty of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Thorong Peak. We can also explore the deepest river gorge in Kaligandaki River. Other highlights of Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking are the semi-wild yak herds and mountain sheep in the remote valleys. You can also get to explore the ethnic communities of Nepal and their wonderful culture as well.

We begin Dhaulagiri Round Trekking with a drive from Kathmandu to Beni. We pass through the cultivated fields connected to some of the mountain villages in the initial days of this trek. As we start ascending to the Italian Base Camp from Dobhan, our climb gets tougher and tougher. We continue through the Iced French Pass and Thapa Pass which have to be passed before we descend down to Yak Kharka. From Yak Kharka, we take a long descend; we reach at Marpha which is the popular city of Mustang district. Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel

The representatives from World Sight Journeys will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation

Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at hotel and stay there overnight.

 

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Beni (830m) – 8 Hours

Today, we drive to Beni from Kathmandu. It takes about eight hours to reach there. We pass through the mountains along thebanks of Trishuli and Marshyangdi River to Pokhara. We drive further from Pokhara deeper into the mountains with the magnificent views of Annapurna ranges. We stay overnight at local lodge at Beni.

Day 04: Trek from Beni to Babichaur (1000m) – 7 Hours

We continue trekking along the Kali Gandaki River today. We then head towards Myandi Khola. Crossing the suspension bridge, we then pass by the villages of Mangalghat and Tatopani to finally reach Babichaur where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 05: Trek from Babichaur to Dharapani (1565m) – 6 Hours

Today, we head to Dharapani from where Dhaulagiri is no more so far. Crossing the terraced hill and Shahanshadhara village, we eventually reach at Dharapani where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 06: Trek from Dharapani to Muri (1850m) – 7 Hours

Our route today goes steep up to Muri fromwhere Mount Dhaulagiri and other mountains appear clearly. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 07: Trek from Muri to Boghara (2050m) – 7 Hours

Our trail is relatively easy today and it goes down for few hours. But before we reach Boghara, we have to climb steep path for about a couple of hours. We then descend down before reaching Phedi and again ascend up until we reach Boghara. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Boghara to Doban (2630m) – 6 Hours

Today’s walk will be quite difficult for us as we will need the help of ropes sometimes. The trail then descends down to a small ridge and crosses the forest to Jyardan. Crossing the rocky part, we eventually arrive at Doban where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 09: Trek from Doban to Italian Base Camp (3500m) – 7 Hours

From Doban, we follow the trail passing through the beautiful forest and rapidly gain the altitude. Mountains seem to burst out all around. As we rapidly gain the altitude here, we need to keep our body hydrated. We eventually reach the Italian Base Camp where we will just be in front of the west wall of Mount Dhaulagiri. We stray overnight at tented accommodation.

 

Day 10: Acclimatization at Italian Base Camp

We take this day as acclimatization. We have to relax today as we will have a tough day tomorrow. Just move around and hike around some places there to make your body active.

Day 11: Trek from Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp (4250m) – 5 Hours

We cross the first glacier and then, we will probably be using a rope in a couple of tricky spot. After climbing the main glacier, we get to see spectacular surrounding. We would rather require using the rope to cross the glacier. We setup camp at Glacier Camp where we stay overnight.

Day 12: Trek from Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4650m) – 4 Hours

We reach the Dhaulagiri Base Camp today. The rough rubble gives us the way to some smooth ice of the glacier. We then climb steadily to the rough and chilling Dhaulagiri Base Camp where we can witness the magnificent north façade of Dhaulagiri I. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 13: Acclimatization at Dhaulagiri Base Camp

As we will be trekking constantly at the altitude above 5000m in next days, this day is essential for acclimatization. According to Health experts, we need to stay active instead of being idle today.

Day 14: Trek from Dhaulagiri Base Camp to French Pass – 4 Hours

From Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we head to French Pass today. Once we cross the steep moraine walls, we are safer. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 15: Trek from French Pass to Hidden Valley Camp (5000m) – 5 Hours

From French Pass, we move to Hidden Valley Camp. We can make some rest, and explore the surrounding peaks as well. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 16: Trek from Hidden Valley Camp to Yak Kharka (4200m) – 6 Hours

We traverse avalanche prone slopes after climbing over Dhampus Pass. We then descend steeply to Yak Kharka where we stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 17: Trek from Yak Kharka to Jomsom (2715m) – 7 Hours

The more descent leads us to Marpha today. We then proceed along the snowy path tackling along the cairns. Walking in the snow and passing the top of the Thapa Pass, we finally arrive at Jomsom where we stay overnight at local lodge.

Day 18: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara

From Jomsom, we take a morning flight to Pokhara, which takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Pokhara, we drive to hotel and in the remaining day, we take our time for the sightseeing of the beautiful city of Pokhara, which is the best tourist destination in Nepal. We explore the number of mysterious caves and temples. We take our time to enjoy boating in Fewa Lake and explore the Seti Gorge, Museum, and Davis Falls. In the remaining time, you can explore around the city. Overnight, we stay at a guesthouse.

Day 19: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

We drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara today. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you can utilize your time for the last minute shopping or you can explore around the city. We celebrate the Farewell Dinner together with the trekking team and spend overnight at the hotel.

Day 20: Final Departure

Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
